Although the weather could have been kinder to us generally, we were very fortunate to have Friday and Saturday as very dry. This at least meant that the BBQ and the concours went off without any major problems.
42 people set out for the day trip to Dublin on the Thursday. Although the day started well enough it was raining by the time we got to Ireland. This didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits though (the Guinness did that!), we all had a good day and I’m sure it will encourage some to go back for a longer stay. Thanks to Tony Lewis at Lewis y llan for sorting out everything for us.
The RNLI, arranged by Pete Walmsley, fed us high quality beefburgers and hot dogs, backed up with Vera Nelson’s fantastic cakes.
There were quite a few entrants in the concours on Saturday and with a good selection of judges (thanks for your efforts), all proceedings were completed on time, thanks to all who did enter. Congratulations to all who earned trophies (see list and pictures after this report).
Our Saturday night disco and buffet went well. DJ Pete kept encouraging the kids to dance and then played sensible music (60’s & 70’s) to keep us happy during the buffet and for the rest of the evening. A good spread was provided by the hosts and staff of the Plas Glanrafon hotel and nobody went away disappointed. Many thanks to all, especially Heather and Chris.
Damian Potter had the biggest smile after his ticket was drawn out of the hat by young Linus Koeppe, so he walked away with the star prize, a 15” LCD TV.
Our friends at the Plas Glanrafon set up the room again on the Sunday morning for our AGM, and what a lively debate there was too!
This has left a lot of interesting discussion items for your board to consider at the next board meeting. Surely that is what the AGM is all about.
That left a day or two for some of us to wind down, even if it was a little wet at times.
Thanks to all who attended. To anyone who reads this and didn’t attend, hopefully it will whet your appetite for our next National. Several first timers attended Anglesey and all said they will be back next year.
This National was dedicated to Graham Nelson, who was with us at the conception, but sadly not at the conclusion. He is in our hearts and greatly missed.
A full report will appear in your next magazine.
