Charles Harrison Explains:
Following much discussion and consultation, the Board has updated the rules for the Concours competition held at our National in three ways:
Firstly we have changed the rules for the Masterclass to include Estates.
Secondly we have decided to award a second place for the Masterclass to keep the awards in line with other categories. In recogntion of the fact that to enter the Masterclass, cars must have won one of the other categories within the last three years, we will also be introducing an award to all those entered in this class.
Thirdly we have changed the format of the judging of the performance modified category to encourage more entrants. We recognise that many are interested in subtly changing their pride and joy to suit a variety of uses. This could be an out and out racing car where the condition of the roof lining and carpets is irrelevant, to every day cars with a power improvement courtesy of electronic fuel injection and a different camshaft or complete engine transplant for example. Marks will be awarded for what is present and how it its done, rather than 'is it original?'. Documentation of what has been done, for example rolling road reports, details of the specification a car has been built to replicate, and/or regulations a car has been built to adhere to are encouraged.
The Board hopes that these measures will encourange more Concours entrants at the Pickering National in July.
